RADISSON RED ROOFTOP
You don’t have to wait for the weekend to enjoy a dip in the lap pool or 360-degree views from the rooftop at Radisson RED. Open Monday to Sunday from 11:30am to 10:30pm, we are sure you can find an excuse to head down to the Silo District at the V&A Waterfront, even if it is to toast to another picturesque Cape Town sunset or admire the iconic Zeitz MOCAA, directly opposite the hotel.
The view: The vibrant colours, “Van Rouge” red truck bar (which was crane-lifted onto the roof) and 360-degree views is like heaven for an Instagrammer.
The vibe: Whether you’re there for an all-day poolside laze or a craft beer-fuelled lunch, you’ll feel right at home in the relaxed, fun space.
The more grounded option: Say no to vertigo by heading down to the equally cool OUI Bar and Kitchen downstairs, with its bold red booths, industrial-sized space and art dripping off the walls. The bar spills out into the sidewalk, which is directly opposite the Zeitz MOCAA, so you can watch the queues slither away over a cold craft beer (Their Baxter’s Bitching Blonde is exclusive to the hotel) and call it public art.
Need to know: Keep an eye on their Facebook page for special events and DJs playing on the rooftop. Although the rooftop bar is open to the public every day of the week, know that this is an events space, so it’s best to always phone ahead to book. For eight people or more, you usually have to book and pay a small deposit.
Tip: Take a taxi or park down at the V&A Waterfront Clock Tower parking opposite (just note that RED does not validate your parking).
